Poem
I feel displaced.
I don't belong here in
the city, in Singapore.
I belong to another world
-- to the (super)natural
world.
I am born Chinese but
I do not feel Chinese.
I appreciate Chinese culture
but from an outsider's
point of view.
I sit here in the middle of
the city but I feel detached
from it as though this is
but a dream.
I see the real world in
watermark, overlaying this
man-manifested one.
I see the spirits of trees
where there is but
air between buildings.
I see emptiness.
